An everyday carry (EDC) kit is exactly what the title suggests. It’s a kit that contains all the items you need to get you through the day.
Do you need keys to drive your car? In that case, you will also need your wallet, with your driver’s license and perhaps some cash or a credit card for any purchases you need to make. With the current pandemic, you probably need a face mask to enter a building or shop, and after touching so many doors, you might want to have an alcohol-based sanitizer to clean your hands. Anyway, you get the idea.
Your EDC is not a backpack that will help you survive the coming zombie apocalypse. It’s a small, portable, and lightweight minimalist bag that you carry on you at all times— it should not be left in the car, in the office, or at home.
Your EDC kit should include:
- Essential items for daily necessities
- Practical and functional items
- Items for basic first aid
- Tools for safety and personal protection
- A pouch to keep all the contents organized, such as a purse or briefcase
Since this kit is highly personal, we’re going to leave the list up to you. We’ve made some suggestions on the template below and left the right column blank for you to fill in.
Use the following template to list all your essential EDC items.
Organize your current EDC, whether it be the contents in your pockets, your purse or briefcase.
Add any items from the list that you may be missing or get rid of the things you don’t need — this would be the time to get rid of all the receipts occupying space in your wallet. 😉
